Battle Cruiser Body details

To create the divots that house the gun view pods i used the Boolean difference tool which i used to cut into the main section of my ship.

Milenium Falcon Body details

For a ship that has a lot of details like the millennium falcon I need to select and focus on parts which parts which will be the most defining as modeling all of them would be time consuming as well as take longer to render.
The rest of the details can be added using textures which will give the look of finer detail

Battle Cruiser: Thrusters

I have added thrusters onto the back of my ship, Looking at the schematics its hard to tell how deep the section is behind the ship and the length of the trusters. Schematics are very useful in lining everything up but can be limited in what it can show.

TIE Fighter: Schematics

I have added schematics to my TIE Fighter file to see if the model is accurate. I have found that the wing are too wide as well as the body of the ship being slightly too big.
Schematics are very useful in this regard as they allow you to check against the model even while making the model.
To better utilize schematics I need to make sure that the model is facing the correct way. such as with the front of my ship, shown on the side view plane in the image above, it shows the back of the ship so i cant compare the front details of my ship to the schematic

To solve this issue I selected Camera rotated it 180° and moved it into position allowing me to see the other side of the ship.

Millennium Falcon: Main body details

I added some details to the body of the ship. I found the extrude and bevel especially useful when creating part such as the rear as i can bevel the outside face then pull it inwards.

X Wing: Gun Details

Issues I have encountered during adding the gun details is when trying to keep all the gun turrets identical. The Mirror tool would have been very useful in this situation. The tool not only can be used to copy objects but also flip and also merge polygons together.

Battle Cruiser: Main body

What i found most useful when making this model is the scale tool (R), it changes selections relative to the pivot point where the made it very easy to create wide or narrow points in my model.

4th Ship Battle Cruiser

For my 4th ship I want to do a Battle Cruiser.
This ship will only be in the background of my animation so it will not need as much detail as my other models, I will be using bump maps and textures to simulate detail instead.
To help me design the ship I have gathered images of various angles of the star wars battle cruiser to help me get the idea of what the model should look like

X Wing: Engine Details

To be able to add detail to the engine, I first started by creating two extra edges around the block using the connect tool.
I then extruded select faces.
I also used the extrude tool to add fins to the inner parts of the engine and to make them more fin like i used the offset option in the extrude tool.
the offset option can also be used to make the extrusion larger

Issues I have encountered when adding details to the engine is when using the extrude tool when extruding a face inwards it will leave adjacent faces the same length. This can sometimes be fixed by completely deleting the unused face, however this might not be the best solution as part of the face may still be needed. Another way is by moving the edge or vertexes to meet with the extrusion.

X Wing: Cockpit

I made cockpit as a separate object this gives me the opportunity to make a cavity in the plane and create an actual hollow section for the cockpit

X Wing: Image Plane

I added schematic images to each of the image planes to help me in the initial part of making the ship.
I mainly used cylinders and cubes and edited the edges and faces to line up with the schematics

3rd Ship X Wing

For my 3rd Model I have decided to use a X wing,
This will be the main subject of my animation so i will have to go into extra details for this model as it will be in view of the audience the most
Because of this i tried to get images that show off the details of the ship

Millennium Falcon: Image plane

I have used schematics to help me create more accurate models. By changing between the different image planes i can line up model to fit.
Some issues i have faced when using schematics is that the images must be the same scale and of the same image.
